To make our Rhipsalis Kokedama, we bind the roots of epiphytic cacti in bright green sphagnum moss. Rhipsalis is a genus of jungle cacti, growing on the branches of trees in the understories of tropical forests, making them tolerant of more moisture than their desert counterparts.
Simply translated, kokedama means "moss ball," and these pieces are our take on the traditional Japanese bonsai practice of the same name. Sometimes called string gardens, each piece can sit in a shallow dish or hang with the attached fishing line loop, making them lovely additions to any window or tabletop.
Rhipsalis thrive in medium to bright indirect light. To water, simply soak your kokedama in a sink or basin until thoroughly saturated. Includes detailed care instructions.
We make each piece by hand with the best of our assorted Rhipsalis species. The images are intended to show the variety in appearance in these special plants - feel free to reach out with preferences. Kokedama Dish sold separately.
